Opening event Friday 18 November 5.30pm upstairs at Magpie (7A Victoria, next to Thai Villa Restaurant)
Magpie will be open Saturday and Sunday 10am - 2pm for viewing
BROOCHES BY INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS WILL BE ON WEBSITE MONDAY 21 NOVEMBER
What happens when you hatch a cunning plan and invite over 30 artists from both Whanganui and around the country to create items to be worn?
'BROOCH: Art Meets Wearable' is what happens.
An eclectic selection of makers, many local, have utilised their skills in art and craft and turned their hand to making items that can be worn - brooches, pins, badges and clips . Brooches have been constructed by painters, printmakers, glass artists, ceramicists, jewelers and textile artists.
All the items in the exhibition are hand crafted, original and mainly one-off pieces, meaning this is a rare chance to purchase something unique.
Prices range form a very affordable $20 up to the $200 range so there is something for everyone. Some artists have produced only one or two special items and others are contributing small clusters of works.
The opening event for this exhibition is Friday 18 November at 5.30pm - the brooches will remain on exhibition for the duration of the weekend - Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th 10am - 2pm, both days. "First in, best dressed"
